The place :
The Mahdia beachside resort is situated south of Monastir and Sousse, in Tunisia. Just a stone′s throw away from the gulf of Hammamet, this city succesfully combines its prosperous past with today′s modern comfort. Mahdia is a small fishing port in the low season and a popular seaside resort in the summer, all the while protecting itself from the tourists′ bustle much better than other Tunisian coastal cities of the likes of Djerba or Hammamet.
If peace and quiet for a restful thalasso spa break is what you seek, Mahdia, its huge beach and its turquoise and emerald waters, is a choice destination.

Restaurant "Monastir" This is the Mahdia′s main restaurant, where hearty breakfasts and dinner buffets are served in a spacious room. At breakfast, treat yourself to a delicious American buffet, and at dinner, indulge yourselves with international delicacies: Tunisian, Italian and seafood cuisine.
Restaurant "Sfax Snack bar" This restaurant serves pizzas, grilled fish and barbecue meat, crepes and pastries, as well as refreshments just beside the swimming pool.
Sports et leisures :
The Mahdia Palace features a large outdoor swimming pool, an indoor swimming pool and a separate one for children. A vast number of sun-beds are at your disposal for total relaxing by the swimming pool. The hotel really finds itself on the water′s edge, and therefore many water activities are available, such as jet skiing, pedal boats, or windsurfing.
Other activities are on offer, such as tennis, football, volleyball, minigolf and aerobics.
Mahdia is a seat of Eden, where cultural gems are yours to discover in the course of your stay : imposing ruins and colourful fishing boats, a thousand-year-old mosque and pirate fortresses, gold and silk cloths, fishing market, ottoman minarets and fishermen′s cafés.
In Mahdia, the interiour decoration of local dwellings is a full-time activity and many are often true masterpieces. In the Hamza street, where houses dating back to the last century and belonging to Mahdia′s richest families side are nested, more than two-thirds of the main room is usually covered by richly-embroidered cloth. The cornices and the ceiling are painted with floral designs and motifs. If you ever have the possibility to visit one of such dwellings, do not hesitate to do so.
Other things to see: the new Mahdia museum features a wide selection of antiques and mozaics unearthed in the region, as well as a popular arts and traditions section (with costumes, cloths, jewelry…). The Borj-el-Kebir is an interesting fortress built by the Turks in the XVIth century.
Outside Mahdia, feel free to visit El Jem if you are an archeology buff, and Tunisia′s capital Tunis for its medina, its souks and the Bardo museum. Monastir, Sousse, Kairouan and Hammamet′s beautiful villas and orange groves are also well worth a visit.
