Trekking Marrakesh-Essaouira

The place :
This Moroccan Thalasso-trek formula will delight those willing to fully explore and experience this beautiful country.

It is the result of a subtle combination between cultural visits, sport activities and beauty and spa treatments. The programme of this holiday package in Morocco will give you a very good outlook of this country, situated between Maghreb and the Mediterranean whose Northern stretch of land is just 14kms from the Gibraltar Straits in Spain.

This programme lasts for 8 days and 7 nights.

You will be awaited and welcomed at Marrakech airport, from where you will be taken to your Riad in the heart of the red city.

The Riad is the equivalent of our guesthouses, with usually remarkable services and facilities in the heart of the medina. They also conceal some of the country’s most charming secrets, mysteries and traditions. You will be welcomed by Lydie, your host at the Mouassine Garden Riad, located in the heart of the medina, just behind the Djema El Fnaa Square.

To help you recover from your trip, we offer you to leave all worries and stress behind the time of a 45-minutes Oriental essential oils massage. This free treat will naturally be given in full respect of the Moroccan massage traditions, with local products helping put your mind and body at rest.

After a relaxing evening and a good night’s sleep, you will leave for Essaouira, a small city located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, thus boasting ideal weather and a prime setting, but also harbouring historicand religious curiosities and monuments well worth a visit.
After having spent 3h on Morocco’s roads between Marrakech and Essaouira, you will arrive at the Riad Lallamira, situated right in the middle of the city centre.

You will enjoy discovering Essaouira, its medina and its souks, and experience a typically Oriental lunch in the medina or in the harbour. You might also want to lounge and laze on one of Essaouira’s fine sand beaches and enjoy the beautiful sun.

At the end of the afternoon, after having meandered through the medina’s secret alleyways, you will be expected to try out a traditional steam bath at the Riad. You will enjoy a typically Moroccan treatment, namely black soap exfoliation: your body will be coated with perfumed black soap and then be frictioned with a massage glove. This exfoliation lasts roughly for an hour, and helps you rid your body of its impurities.

The day ends with a Bio dinner at the Riad’s restaurant in a typically Moroccan decor. You will be free to choose from many different traditional Moroccan dishes, all made of biological food.
The next day, you will leave Essaouira for villages located further South, down to the Sidi M’Barek marabout. You will enjoy exploring breathtaking landscapes and freshwater cascades on the Atlantic Ocean’s shores.
You will then go on a 3H walk to the village of Sidi Kaouki, a small village situated 30kms outside Essaouira and famous for its huge beaches surrounded by sand dunes. It is a very popular surfing spot, especially for windsurfing and funboard surfing amateurs.

A well-earned lunch awaits you in this small village that has now become a tourist stop for watersports amateurs. You are free to relax, swim or idle after lunch.

Guests return to Essaouira for a relaxing afternoon. To help you relax your muscles after such a long walk, feel free to enjoy a 45-minute essential oil massage. Dinner and night at the Riad.

The fourth day will be dedicated to a cultural experience, the Argan and its virtues.

The Argan tree is Morocco’s most symbolic tree, as it only grows on dry and arid soils. Its fruit gives us the Argan oil, which is much praised for its culinary properties (identical to those found in olive oil) and for its cosmetic virtues (it is a fine moisturizer as it is rich in vitamine E).

At the end of the morning, you will be taken on a promenade through the argan orchards strewn all around Essaouira. Lunch break in a typically rural restaurant, selected by your guide.
The Tamount cooperative, which produces argan oil in full respect of ancestral traditions, is Essaouira and its region’s main economic asset. Women work in this factory, which shows for the gradual evolution of women’s rights and status in North African countries.

Feel free to purchase a bottle of argan oil, which is also called beauty serum by Moroccans. It is very good idea, since you will have the opportunity to verify its virtues as soon as you return to the Riad, in the steam bath. It can also be used for a relaxing 45-minute massage in your room.

On the fifth day, you will leave Essaouira for the Oued Elksob’s mouth, for a walk in the Diabate dunes, south of Essaouira. Pic-nic and ocean swim. You will return to Essaouira at the end of the afternoon, for another session of relaxing treatments, respectful of the rules of this Moroccan art.

Afternoon programme:
Steam bath,

Rassouline wrap (Moroccan powder, famous for its softening and antiseptic virtues)

Rose water and Orange flower beauty masks

On the next day, the sixth day of your stay, you will leave Essaouira for Marrakech.

You will visit the bio-aromatic gardens of Tnine Ourika, boasting over 45 species usually found in essential oils. This place is a state-of-the-art « nectarome », a wild aroma plant distillery, which also produces or transforms biological products. After the visit, you will be free to purchase these incredible products.

For volunteers, reflexotherapy sessions are on offer upon request. Guests will be invited to bathe their feet in saltwater comprising alga and bitter orange oil, for a relaxing and original spa treatment!

The Douar de Raja restaurant serves a typically Berber cuisine, especially tajines, couscous and fish. All dishes are prepared in scrupulous respect of Moroccan recipes and traditions, cooked in earthenware and baked clay ovens.

Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be taken to your Riad for dinner and a good night’s sleep. You will be free to explore Marrakech and its bustle by strolling around the Djema el Fna square and experience the particular feel and atmosphere there is about Moroccan souks.

You will spend the seventh day as you please! Here a few suggesions to make the most of your last day in Marrakech:
You could plan a cultural morning in the streets of the city by touring its historical and cultural monuments and then go on a shopping spree in the souks and purchase carpets, pottery, jewelry and other Moroccan traditional souvenirs, which will give an Oriental touch to your home.

Do not forget to make a stop by the cloth souks, where incredible colours and texture cloths are on offer, as well as colourful babouches for your long winter evenings. Feel free to enjoy yet another essential oil massage at the Mouassine Garden Riad

The eighth and final day will be the one of your return home.
